Dr Anthony Davoren

Managing Director

Dr Anthony Davoren, MSc (University of Waikato) in Earth Sciences, Ph.D. (Washington State University) in Engineering Science, established HydroServices Ltd in 1983.

Anthony Davoren specialises in irrigation management, irrigation requirements, soil and soil water assessment, and surface and groundwater water resources.

He carries out monitoring, oversees and inspects quality of field operations and supervises field staff.

He is a professional organisation member of:

  • New Zealand Hydrological Society
  • New Zealand Society of Soil Science
  • Agronomy Society of New Zealand
  • New Zealand Vegetable & Fruit Growers Federation

Phil Neill

Manager, Irrigation Management

Phil Neill, BAgSc (Lincoln University), MBA (Southern Cross) joined HydroServices in October 2008 to manage the Irrigation Management business.

He carries out monitoring, oversees and inspects quality of field operations and supervises field staff.

Phil is a qualified Irrigation Evaluator and carries out on-farm irrigation evaluations throughout the South Island.

Melanie Smith

Area Manager, North Island

Melanie Smith joined HydroServices in 2003 as a seasonal field technician.

Since 2006 Melanie has managed and developed the irrigation management business in the North Island.

She carries out monitoring, oversees and inspects quality of field operations and supervises field staff.

Melanie is a qualified Irrigation Evaluator and carries out on-farm irrigation evaluations throughout the North Island.

Mark Fitzgibbon

Area Manager, Mid-South Canterbury

Mark joined HydroServices in September 2011. Mark is a member of the Irrigation Management Team and is the Area Manager for Mid and South Canterbury. He is based in Ashburton. Mark has an extensive farming background and brings this knowledge and expertise to our team. Mark carries out site installations for soil moisture measurement, monitoring for irrigation management advice and soil moisture sensor calibration, water holding capacity measurements, and ground truthing of EM maps of farms.

In his spare time, Mark enjoys a wide variety of sports, and is especially passionate about rugby league and golf.

Josh Harlen

Field Technician

Josh Harlen joined HydroServices (North Island) in the 2015/16 irrigation season as a Field Technician. He has a Bachelor of Science (Geology) with experience in geological mapping, geotechnical soil analysis and horticultural operations. Josh carries out monitoring, installations and day-to-day field operations.

Sarah Hayman

Research Scientist

Sarah Hayman, MWaterRm & BSc (University of Canterbury) joined HydroServices as a Student Field Technician during the 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 irrigation seasons. Since July 2016 she joined the team as a full-time Research Scientist.

Sarah is involved with carrying out data analysis for compliance and maintaining quality of water management data for clients. She also oversees the development and operation of our myirrigation.info website and helps with field services including soil moisture monitoring and water meter verifications.

Sarah also has some background with Farm Environment Plans and Overseer nutrient budgets and is currently working towards her nutrient management certification.

Hamish Maxwell

Irrigation Management Technician

Hamish Maxwell, BComAg (Lincoln University) joined HydroServices as a Field Technician during the 2015/2016 and the 2016/2017 irrigation season. Since May 2017 he has joined the full-time as an Irrigation Management Technician.

Hamish grew up in North Canterbury and has a variety of on farm practical experience across different farm systems, including; Dairy, Sheep & Beef, Deer and Cropping.

Hamish carries out site installations for soil moisture measurement, irrigation monitoring, soil moisture calibrations, irrigation evaluations and day-to-day field operations.

Jane Legarth-Robb

Data Analysis Technician

Jane originally joined HydroServices in 2003 as a Field Technician in Central Otago where she put her viticulture qualification to good use. In 2016 she obtained a Graduate Diploma in Professional Practice to formalise her knowledge in irrigation management.

Jane carries out data analysis work for HydroServices Consultancy.

Paula Masterton

Office Manager

Paula manages the day-to-day administration of HydroServices.

Paula can answer or obtain the answer to your invoicing, irrigation management, resource consent and other queries.
